Yeah, but it also killed Ho-Oh's chances of ever being relevant outside of an AU movie because of the significance of being the catalyst for Ash to follow his journey the whole way through. They aren't allowed to do anything major with it short of "the final scene of Ash's journey, the ultimate culmination of everything before he truly becomes a Pokemon Master" due to that significance. It's solely a cameo 'mon until the executives come crawling back to Ash once the new PM is through.

We did see Ho-oh in one of the AU Ash movies in the last couple of years but yeah mainline Ho-oh is on a sacred mantle even Arceus cant touch being the representation of Ash's dreams from episode 1.

There are no good pokemon movies. This one was cool at the time for the special effects and seeing the birds in action explaining their role in the lore of the show. Plus showing off lugia, slowking, etc.

At its most basic form, pokemon is an anime about magical animals. Humans take care of some of them. The magical animals fight each other commonly, but not necessarily.
