An anon in another thread suggested Annihilape. Screech turn 1, then try and out-heal its hits with Rage Fist. Being a tera type that's anything but Ghost so you don't take as much Shadow Ball damage.

Brute forced it solo with Slowking with Amnesia, Nasty Plot, Stored Power, and Slack Off but would not recommend (had to use all heal cheers and all slack offs). A single probably shadow ball crit would've ended it.

I think they're designed around the moveset first. None of them used Tera Blast for their main STAB move and have at least one good move of the Tera type. Inteleon would be the most interesting one because its moveset is dogshit and less varied than even Typhlosion.

Kind of odd that Typhlosion went Ghost type to copy it's H-form
Besides typing work around, Decidueye getting flying(bird that loses it), and Samurott getting Bug(beetle armor), it seems kind of off for Typhlosion.

Like that anon said, Typhlosion already kind of had a ghostly image, including his old Shiny, and the fact that Typhlosion is more about being the explosion of a volcano itself, being eerie, rather than signifying the actual volcano like Entei and Camerrupt

Managed to do it just now with the Chi-Yu I had set up for Iron leaves, Nasty Plot and Dark Pulse really does destroy him.

What Ball though? I'm thinking since his flames are fully out, which is fucking beautiful by the way, I might go fast ball since it matches the flames

Typhlosion tends to switch between shadow ball and eruption. rarely uses Equake and sunny day. never saw play rough

It seems to only use though if there is a type advanatge, I saw one spam Eqauke against a Bellibolt and Play rough against a Tyranitar.

btw how to spread moves work in raids with bosses uses them? Do they only hit one pokemon or everyone because it seems inconsistent.

Actually for some reason for me it got drunk and used Play Rough twice against my Poison-Tera Annihilape (never bothered to change the Tera), no idea why since there was nothing stopping it from using better options, and it never used it before I used my Tera either. Got me a couple of turns breathing room at least, I won afterwards.

If you can coordinate a full team,

Krookodile with Anger point holding choice band, 252 atk 96 spdef 160 speed Adamant nature Attack with power trip

The rest of the team, Honchkrow with super luck holding scope lens and use Night slash on the krookodile 2 Umbreons holding wide lens use screech, all "support" mons 252 hp and 252 sp def calm nature,

Both umbreons screech the typhlosion, Honhkrow night slashes the Krookodile, then after that Krookodile uses power trip on typhlosion, OHKO turn 1.

If you just want to get the Typhlosion, solo run with Rage Fist Annihilape. You might lose once or twice to bad luck, but it still bends him over the table. If you're farming, one idea is:

Chansey @ Eviolite
Serene Grace
248 HP/252 Def/ 10SpDef
Life Dew
Light Screen
Rain Dance
Thunder - Rain Dance allows no miss Thunder to paralyze 60% of time, even through shield due to being a secondary effect.

Won almost every random online matchup by running this, only time I lost was when some fag brought a Chi-Yu. Still almost won, anyway.

The first rando raid i joined beat it with a stored power vaporeon, toxapex, my chansey, and some dipshit with a honchkrow that kept dying. It took a few hits, but that's because we had to fight through the shield due to the crow dying. I think you could set up a 2-3 turn stored power strat with the right support.

Houndoom is unfortunately very bad against this because, even if you do Air Balloon, there'll be a turn early on where Typhlosion will negate your ability and hit you with an eruption breaking the balloon. Otherwise he would've actually been a good pick.

Anyway I used Walking Wake with Def Buff Cheer and Snarl, Play Rough doesn't do that much damage and misses a lot. You'll want at least one Annihilape helping out with Rage Fist to eventually kill him. idk why people keep bringing Bellibolt but he does okay.

If anyone needs a good support Pokémon (Used this to support Annihilape playing with two people and two CPUs, and had an easy first-try victory), you could try this:

Farigiraf @ Leftovers
Bold
252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def

- Rain Dance
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Thunder Wave

You can definitely solo with Annihilape alone, but if anyone happens to be playing with two players, this works well. Basically use the moves in order and then put stuff back up as needed. Also use cheers as needed, of course. If you don't want to use paralysis you could swap out Thunder Wave for Helping Hand or something else. Just thought I'd share. (I'm not a competitive player so it's probably far from perfect but it did its job.)

I do think that's part of the design problem of raids in general. They're made to be done with randos, but they are challenging enough that if you don't go in with a reasonably optimized team you're in for a bad time. And all of the mechanics to fully optimize a team are obscured in the game, so if you haven't spent your time learning movesets and EVs and mon builds, you're going to lose. And the vast majority of the audience just isn't dialed into that.

It doesn't have any shenanigans and tricks than Greninja, but I've seen people who've struggle quite a lot with Typhlosion, even people who know what they're doing often have close calls. Despite half its moves using its weaker offense stat, its overall coverage is pretty solid, and half time time it doesn't even need to use that coverage because Eruption under the Sun is just that strong.

The sad thing is that SV are the first games that actually tried to teach players about how the games work, (via the school stuff), has its easier than ever before to optimize a Pokemon. It's not even that's its movepool is garbage its that its ass-backwards because its stat spread makes no sense. Typhlosion is clearly meant to be a fast mixed attacker so its stat spread should have been closer to something like they did for Infernap (though keep its speed at 100). But Game Freak was too afraid to it overshadowing CHARIZARD so they shackled it to CHARIZARDs embarrassing stat spread and gave it no utility to make it for it.

Guy, it's not nearly that petty. It's actually kinda worse. The Cyndaquil line got banged out super late in development going by the beta dump so they just reused the Charmander line's stats to save time.

Yeah that happens to me a lot. Sometimes the raids will stop me from selecting an attack entirely or ignore that I used an attack or it'll randomly one shot me without it getting buffed or me getting debuffed.

The way I understand it, it doesn't normally show the moves it uses against your allies, but if it's a status move, buff/debuff, or one of its special raid bullshit powers, it WILL show those animations and run down the clock like fucking crazy if you get unlucky enough. Sometimes I'd see an Eruption, two Earthquakes, and a special raid power before I the next turn rolls around. Raids were absolutely not playtested and definitely weren't coded by anyone not high as fuck while working.

I have an idea that's probably wrong. Eruption's damage scales proportionally with the user's remaining HP. Since raid 'mon HP bars act like a bunch of HP bars stapled together, I wonder if it's possible that Eruption is dealing damage based on the remaining HP in the current standard HP bar (one of the 25-30 that are stapled together)? That would be pretty dumb and I'm assuming it's not the case, but might as well mention my dumb theory.

Uhhh does it? I thought dataminers like Mattyoukhana (or whatever it was) said that the HP bars are more so just massively inflated versions of the base Pokemon's HP values, with the multipliers adjusted depending on the raid level (or manually, when it comes to the event 7-Stars)

To add on to these, if you don't have the money lying around for vitamins, just spend much less on the relevant macho item (also at Chansey Supply), and go kill shit that gives you the relevant EVs. With the macho items giving a flat +8 EVs for their specific stat, the absolute most you'll need to fight is 28 monsters for each stat you want to max.

Not really? Walking Wake doesn't really have any good buffing or debuffing moves, Dragon isn't resistant to Shadow Ball or Earthquake and is weak to Play Rough, and it doesn't hit for STAB super effectiveness on either type.

Especially for raid mon building, it's better/cheaper to just eat a normal encounter sandwich, give the mon you're training a weight item for the stat you're wanting, then kill Chanseys in Area Zero in the cave near station 3.
You'll have HP trained halfway when you finish the attack stat, and then when you swap to the HP weight you'll finish very quickly and have gotten a ton of exp on top.

Now, it's best to switch out Focus Energy for Screech since you won't be using the FE + Scope Lens strategy, but i was lazy so whatever. I have seen that you can used Terra-Ghost and take plenty of Shadow Ball hits, but save that for once your Rage Fist is maxed, because you will be fainting a lot. Also it seems they throw you a bone and give you Bellibolt to paralyse every once and a while.

That was my thought too - 4 Chi-Yus = immunity friends and the melted honey badger.
I mean, I was able to solo it with one and while the early part had him pressing my luck, after I ate a KO and revived, I was able to tera and sweep him without needing guidance and I usually waited for the solo strat videos to start popping up to mimic them for an easy win.

Why wouldn't you? As long as the Pokemon is in both games there's no reason why a transfer wouldn't work. For example you probably can't get a Johto-Typhlosion in PLA, but there shouldn't be any problem with Cynadquil. Worst case scenario it'll have that green ball temporarily.

You couldn't transfer backwards from 7 to 6. iirc, it's because the Pokemon automatically gets their data appended with whatever new chunks the new gen dictates (like slots for the new Ribbons, new Marks, etc.). Given how they handled move disparity in the Gen 8 games its POSSIBLE that they found a work-around, but I wouldn't get my hopes up because

Maybe I'm foolish for having any faith in GF/ILCA, but I don't see a point to Home if simple transfers with the only caveat being they're cross gen aren't possible. I get something like GO being one way, but in PLA's case, all they need to do is say any transfered Pokemon came from [generic faraway place] and slap on the green Pokeball, as long as the Pokemon itself doesn't know any moves not in PLA I'm struggling to see why exactly a transfer wouldn't be possible.

It might be wishful thinking, but I think compatibility with PLA would make perfect sense and would be a good opportunity to sell more of the game.
If it isn't going to be the case, then getting Hisuian forms of starters will be a massive pain in the dick.
The easiest way of getting more would be transferring 1st/2nd stages from fucking PoGo to PLA to evolve, and then to SV.

When I was hosting Ditto's last week, I was getting shitters leaving when they saw me going with a low level Ditto instead of a Magikarp. Better to waste more time looking for a new group than to roll with it and beat the boss in 5 more seconds than the most optimal strategy.

I beat it with a Blissey, teammates were an Umbreon and 2 Apes. We set up dual screens then it was just keeping the apes alive till they could Tera.
I found it pretty funny how we did the Healer/Tank/Two DPS FFXIV rollout.

Wouldn't be so bad if it didn't pick a new transform target randomly. Host tried it, I was second in line so thought I was being slick throwing out a Magikarp, and then it transformed into the third guy's Koraidon. At least we died fast.

After about 30 seconds from when the battle starts, Typhlosion will remove buffs and disable abilities from all Pokemon then follow up with Eruption. This only happens once, so prepare for it during your 1st or 2nd turn.
