Replace Blastoise with CHARIZARD. Now with two fire types no one would pick Venusaur so lets remove it. And if given the choice between any given fire type and CHARIZARD, obviously people would pikc CHARIZARD so lets remove Arcanine as well.
Really, the only starter for Kanto should be CHARIZARD

/vp/ wouldn't exit, your childhood would be poorer and Pokémon would have died a long time ago, likely without ever getting a localisation berth.
Mind, we'd likely have gotten something better than the DS, as Nintendo would have replaced the Game Boy sooner, which almost-certainly would have bumped us out of the timescale where they devised the DS as a result of not wanting to turn the Game Boy brand toxic after the GBA's underperformance.

Have no bearing on Game Freak's view of how popular something is anon. That's why Greninja got benched in Sword and Shield, despite winning that same poll overall you're talking about. It joined other such luminaries as pancake raichu, wooden pokéball, my little Ponyta, acid trip oil spill and ice sandshrew, all so popular, people only started caring about them when they got a re-design and utility overhaul.
