Grusha's name is also russian (in all languages), which is odd for a game set in Spain, but Gaeric was from (proto!)Sinnoh which should connect to Russia (see Sakhalin) so maybe the think is that Gaeric's family moved to poke!Russia and eventually Wulfric and Grusha settled on poke!France and poke!Spain as the strongest leaders of their leagues?
