megas are almost definitely coming back at some point in the near future, though whether it's for SV DLC or some other game coming after remains to be seen
otherwise they wouldn't have bothered giving them brand new mainline-styled icons in home while the gigantamax pokemon have nothing of the sort

They were in LGPE, Mystery Dungeon DX, and will be back at least in the Gen6 remakes, far away as they are. GF/TPCI knows their popularity and will never let them fade away, and I'm fine with that because I like the primals
