Grass, ground, bug, dark and ice are just awful, and even the bleh ones like water, ghost and rock have proportions that look off

I actually like dark honestly since its an evil eye and dark is more about using dirty/evil/ferocius/vigilante attacks. Only ones I'm not a fan of are poison and ground.

See I don't mind poison. Reminds me of a bog and the toxic animation which are both pretty on brand. Dark is on brand too though. I think really the shape of the eye is just way too round for me.
What the fuck were they thinking for ground

Thats fine. I just prefer the skull and bones since it conveys it better. In fact alot of the previous symbols did a better job.

I get what they were doing for ground, making it a tectonic plate and all, but its not like thats the only thing they could've come up with considering how the previous symbol did a better job at conveying the type it represented.

SV's Fairy icon is better, and the TCG's Psychic icon will always reign supreme. The rest of those are fine, although it's hard to properly represent Ground.

Yeah these are way better, and using a mountain for ground actually makes more sense to me. I like the new steel, fairy, and maybe dragon better, but other than that I prefer these.
Somebody else mentioned the psychic energy symbol TCG and I think that should represent psychic more consistently

holy fuck, that's a screencap from the anime isn't it? So they are permanent? These new type symbols they introduced in SV are complete fucking shit. The fairy symbol looks like a butterfly which brings to mind bug types (hurr but it's pink retard) shut the fuck up, it's inconsistent as shit. The dark type symbol is an eye? That used to be psychic's symbol, what in the fuck are they smoking; this shit got me confused as hell when doing tera raids in game, same with steel and ground because they are not color coded when being viewed in the tera raid menu. The fuck is the psychic symbol supposed to be now? And lastly, the dragon type symbol is now Charizard???? HAHAHAHAHA CHARIZARD ISN'T EVEN FUCKING DRAGON TYPE!!!!

I just spent like 3 minutes trying to guess the one between fire and fairy, I think it's normal but the first thing I thought was poison, because I thought the poison one was psychic and the psychic one was nromal.
I like some of these but equal or better readablity can be achieved with better looking symbols.

The first Japanese anime opening had the 7 TCG symbols at the time shown. Why the franchise as a whole didn't adopt the TCG's symbols and expand it for the remaining types, I don't know.

I have no idea why they don't wanna using the eye symbol for psychic. It does a good job at type representation and purple and pink are colors associated with magic, which psychic type represents well even after the introduction of fairy types. In fact, psychic type is refered to as esper type in japan.

Honestly thinking about it, the tcg symbol for dark should've been the official dark symbol.

Agreed, it may be nostalgia talking but they were always so cool to me that I liked the energy cards more than some of the actual pokemon's cards. It would probably completely fuck the game's balance but I do wish they'd add the rest of the types to the tcg, if only for a generation, just so we could finally have official symbols for them.

Probably because it's hard to actually define the missing types. They hardly ever make different weaknesses and resistances for Pokemon, everything is homogenized for each type.
