The problem isn't that she'd call Ash a but that half the time Iris would call him a kid for something she'd turn around and do the same thing herself 5 seconds later because she's a kid too. It's supposed to be endearing but mostly just comes off hypocritical and annoying.

This one is false, unlike May and Dawn Iris didn't just become a trainer when Ash showed up. Probably they did it in about the same amount of time.

Nothing will ever be a logical explanation for why Cynthia decided to Mega Evolve against base Haxorus but Dynamax on Ash who was her opponent with more fire arm and strength. Save the “Garchomp was damaged crap”. Anime outright admits Dynamax is crap compared to Mega Evolution because it has a time limit with Diantha vs Lance. They absolutely could’ve had Cynthia crush Iris without throwing in a stupid gimmick.

Not really. If anything in JN Mega is the one crap gimmick because there's never any real measurable powerup from the base form.

BW2 cheats Iris to get where she’s at but Pikachu was never shown to be as useless as Axew so it randomly being able to take defeat another Champion (allegedly by Journeys logic) is not a small feat. The point isn’t who’s more impressive it’s that the writers threw everything at Iris without anything on screen to back it up and technically Ash did use older Pokémon in Johto and the Sinnoh League and still lost.

The same can be said with any gimmick. A power up is still included but unlike Dynamax, Mega Evolution lasts. All Ash had to do was stall Togekiss until it timed out with his Mega and same with Diantha and Lance. It’s basic logic.

Ash's entire journey from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, and Alola takes place within a cumulative span of 2 months. Burnet has just become pregnant at the end of SM. That means Journeys takes place over nine months later. Being generous, that would have to mean Burnet was already about one month pregnant at the end of SM in order for Ash to still be 10 at the end of Journeys. I do not think Iris outpaced him.

The anime has no timeline. What is is true is that Ash didn't become Champion until after traveling seven regions. At the very least Iris did it with less traveling experience and experience challenging the Pokemon league. Either doesn't look good for Ash.

Except she kinda did. I dislike Iris because they handled her in the worst way possible. She's pretty much rewarded for her bratty behavior and instead of the anime humbling her attitude, she got to be obnoxious and then a Champion. It could've been a good arc showing she's not as great as she thought she was but no bad writing.

Losing to Cynthia who’s considered an absolute goat and then having her take you serious enough to mega evolve isn’t something to be ashamed of. If you’re low hanging fruit and just happy she got a lost then sure but she should’ve never been shoehorned into the Masters Eight or Champion to begin with. Yet trainers like Paul are left out. It’s not like losing the Masters Eight battle made her lose her underserved title.
