They literally do. It's explained in the postgame that Alphas aren't that big naturally. The same way the Noble Pokemon's size is a result of being blessed by Arceus, the Alpha Pokemon's size is due to Giratina opening space-time rifts and the Pokemon being struck by lightning from them.

Alphas are just the max size of a Pokémon, something Scarlet and Violet kept and Pokémon Go/Let’s Go pretended to have with a stat number, but because of the way Gameplay works in PLA, they serve an actual gameplay purpose.
