I usually play Pokemon emulated so i'm guilty of abusing fast forward when grinding, speeding through boring dialogue etc. but I wouldn't use cheats

I'll play from start to postgame without cheats, but I'll inject meta pokemon to do online battles with. Fuck grinding for IV and EVs, that's not fun in any capacity.

Back in the day I used the save dupe glitch in Silver after I had beaten it.
Today I used a save editor to make my starter shiny.
That's it.

Only speed up for grinding before completing the main story.
In the postgame I give myself rare candies, but it depends on the individual game and the level jump in its postgame.

When I was young I got a cloned Mew from a neighbor and also cloned Rare Candies. More recently, I have changed my Switch clock repeatedly to farm the Charizard raid. That's about the extent of my cheating.

Fast forward and that's it.
Once I injected the base forms of the Pokémon I planned to use for my team at level 5 at the beginning of the game, but they were otherwise legit.
I used a cheat to increase EXP in BW2 because I was underleveled right before the League and didn't want to spend hours grinding.

That's it, I usually don't like using cheats.

sometimes it's fun to do a run with walk-through-walls on just to mess around
other than that what's the point, giving yourself infinite rare candies or something would just make it boring

I play through the game normally first, then I use an Action Replay to get mythicals. That's how I used to play.

Nowadays I just remake all my old save files with PKHeX.

Also, I actually enjoy playing against hacked Pokemon.

I only play ROM hacks and go into each one with a predetermined team in mind. I will use cheats to generate the desired team at my own pace, usually something like a new member after each gym.

I will also change the gender for each to my liking. And I will change abilities if the mon I want to use has a bad ability. For example giving Magnemite Levitate or Vaporeon Water Veil. I'll usually give max IVs as well.

I don't cheat, short of occasionally trading some of my stored 'mons from Home over from time to time. Really, the games are easy enough that there's no reason to have to cheat.

Semif-related: I've never cheated in PMD, not even by using the Wonder Mail system. So when I got an extremely rare job generated naturally (so rare that the community believes it's impossible without cheats) I didn't think of preserving the code so others could use it. It was a mission that rewarded a Golden Mask for exploring Beach Cave.

Fast forward is fine for grinding.
Injecting mon is fine to start with whatever you like.
Injection for online play is fine.

I'd say the only limit I have is rare candy dupes and injecting pokemon that don't exist.

Nope. It simply appeared like that to me without ever using a single Wonder Mail. It was a bit before the Manaphy chapter so I don't believe it was due to a specific event, just totally random. I know it sounds fucky but it's true.

In Gen3, it's okay to cheat for event islands, Mirage Island and e-reader content.

On that regard, we need a digital re-release of entire Gen3 based on japanese versions with all e-reader, event & multiplayer content intact. We also need an upgraded Colosseum with all it's scrapped content, along with e-reader room activated. It has 25 or so pokémon cut from the game and with bonus disc & e-reader exclusive pokémon, we have at least 30 pokémon missing!
