unironically, rental pokemon should have been customizable or at least decent. They made them so dogshit it honestly ruined the game

This concept was far too expensive when it released (and even more so today), but it’s very cool if you have everything needed to make it work. It is disappointing that the NSO version only utilizes rentals, even if I think importing from a digital copy of RBY would lack some of the charm of the original.
