I've been completing the Emerald pokedex over the past year and it's honestly a ton of fun. There is a *lot* you can get in Emerald itself but having to whip out stuff like LeafGreen, Ruby and the Gamecube games just makes it feel special. Like all these games are actually connected and are a part of something bigger. Shame there was never a generation like this again.

False, they are not equivalent. PkHex either requires emulation or customer firmware to be able to be able to isolate the save file and then yo require a program on your PC just to use it. The Pomeg glitch is entirely in game and requires no additional hardware or firmware to perform. Your arbitrary goalposts for cheating won't magically make them the same, so don't try that line.

Actually, RSE's situation was better. At least the Pokemon were coded into the game so you could catch every Pokemon between two reasonably priced games and some friends who played the opposite versions. Sword and Shield makes you buy an expensive DLC just for stuff that should have been in the main game.

Besides Ruby and Sapphire have May, my spirit body. Sword and Shield have Gloria. I hate Gloria so much because she reminds me of my seventeenth birthday when I got Shield. Gloria is so cute she is disgusting.

I used to like the Eeveeloutions, but it's so easy to dislike now when the base form gets a ton of special treatment and the most its evolutions have gotten in the past 20 years is Trailblaze, Calm Mind, and the physical/special split.

Most people abandoned the franchise before Crystal came out. Gen 3 was created to attract the next generation and left those who abandoned the franchise behind. That's why they remade RB, for people who never played it before, and redid the stats and introduced abilities. For the most part the core series has used the same mechanics since gen 3 and you could transfer forward starting then. It was a soft reboot that actually worked and created an enduring franchise. Ignoring the people who stopped playing was worth it and the best decision they ever made.

What you won’t remember(because you are a zoomer) is that Game Freak made many Pokémon hard to get back in the day to disincentivize their games being rented instead of being sold individually to the players.
They backed off a bit with that strategy in gen 4(though many Pokémon that are a nightmare to get still exist there of course).

Gen 3 does indeed suck, and I did not buy it as a kid because I was so mad they wouldn't let you transfer from Gen 2. I hesitantly came back with gen 5, but have not bought the switch games because, once again, they won't let me transfer my Pokemon. This series is fucking retarded
