Why does this game hold up so well? With modern standards you can still play this with comfort. It's rare for anyone to do that with RBY, RSE, & DPP. GSC tho, everyone can play them and still enjoy it.

I think it's so good because it's the ultimate representation of Pokémon's original creative vision.
Plus it's the perfect medium between simple and complex, it feels like the most pure, distilled Pokémon experience.

cant say the same for Gold and Silver
but Crystal really saved the gen just the sprites,aesthetic and all the QoL

I also really like the Odd egg shame HGSS didn't implement it also the Game corner was great too in GSC

Even though they aren't animated, I personally prefer Silver's sprites over Gold's, which were used as a base for Crystal.

But I can do that with RBY and DPP just fine, they’re both comfy kino, not so much RSE, that one was always overrated and the weakest of the first three gens, still better than modern pokemon though

Gen 3 is the Super Mario World of Pokemon, it is literally the most replayed Pokemon generation.
It was the easiest base to hack for a decade.
