I never played the Sinnoh region, and I feel like it's time to change that. Is it better going with Platinum or the cellphone-looking remakes? Also, is Platinum as slow (animation wise) as I remember HG/SS to be?

If you consider HGSS slow then don't fucking play vanilla DP.

Plat is the best version of sinnoh, it includes a full battle frontier at the end

Don't play the remakes. If you're a boomer like me that played FRLG after playing RBY as a kid, it's not the same. It's not remotely fucking the same. They're objectively worse than the original.

Pokemon black and white nearly doubled battle times by zooming in on the enemy before attacking, and pokemon X/Y S/M take a second for the animations to load also doubling battle times

Oh also it seems to be a switchfag thing where they thing that the "le power of the le switch" will speed up battles, but in reality it makes gamefreak add more unnecessary animations

Play platinum, and whatever you fucking do, don't be a speedrunner. You literally will not even be able to enjoy the game if you hate time based mechanics and beat pokemon games in like a week or less.
