>>53728348>what should an MtG player know if they want to get into Pokemon cards?Playing the actual game or collecting?
Playing the game itself is not that hard, it's way less complicated than MtG for sure. The best way to learn the basics is to play PTCG Live, if you've got any LCSs/LGSs in your area where they play the TCG, you should pay them a visit, normally they'd host Pokémon League events, it's just casual/non-competitive gameplay. Later on you can compete in League Challenges etc. You can get started by buying a pre-built deck or you could look up some decks on YouTube.
Another way to learn the basics:
https://tcg.pokemon.com/en-us/how-to-play/Collecting? That ain't hard, just collect whatever brings you the most joy. You can collect vintage, modern, whatever Pokémon you like, cards by your favourite artist ...
Engage with other collectors (go to conventions or other events, socialize with other collectors over social media ...), build a network around yourself, connect with others. Never sell any of your cards ever, and just enjoy your collection, who cares if your collection isn't worth over X amount of money? That's just my two cents worth of advice.
