>>53712504The more pokemon who have protect the safer you can play. Not every pokemon needs to run protect but frail sweepers like Chien Pow or Flutter Mane really should. You can stall turns such as against enemy Tailwinds, you can both make and and punish reads both against you or your opponent, and you can use it sometimes to Earthquake the field and not take damage yourself.
Helping Hand is also a god tier move that you'd never think to use outside of doubles. It makes your partner's physical or special attack x1.5 stronger. If a Pokemon is at +1 attack and has x1.5, instead of boosting that same stat again to x2 a helping hand eill multiplicativley apply, 1.5x1.5=2.25.
Redirectors for setup or just to survive are also godly. Maushold or Indeedee and Anihilspe for example compliment each other super well, as redirecting ghost attacks into the support who's immune to them makes things so much easier. Keeping track of protect plays or redirection damage mitigation plays is crucial to doubles 4v4.
