I prefer reasonable odds that I still have to work for, but are feasible, say Gen 6 and beyond, not GO odds where it’s like a 1/10 chance of a Shiny

I found Shiny Deino after about 200 DexNav encounters in my Alpha Sapphire that I did a solo run with in Omega Ruby. Hoping to make it a Ribbon Master for the games I have/can transfer to.

Finally got this on after 150+ eggs. I don't think I will bother shiny hunting again on Crystal, at least not on this run. As soon as I'm done with this game I will play emerald and try for a Shiny Ralts

Have faith, I hatched a shiny female Popplio and a shiny female Riolu in Sword as my first two 1/8 hunts (wasn't even trying for the femlu either, it just happened that way).

Legends, checking the alpha spawn in Obsidian Fieldlands and any buneary/lopunny outbreaks/MMO's in case I get lucky.

Modified. I didn't start hunting until SM and not seriously until USM, after I'd gotten the charm in both games. When I started SR for an Articuno in US was when I realised I was into hunting. 8k odds never interested me.
>Phases?
1. Like I said, I prefer modified odds, so the only times I've phased, I found a random shiny before starting an SOS hunt (twice in US - one Magikarp, one Salandit M)

I finally managed to get my shiny female Rapidash earlier this week so hopefully the bunny'll shine soon too.

My final garden pattern Scatterbug and Jumbo Palafin

My only major one so far was jumbo Frigibax which had 48 shiny frigibax before and I didn’t count the other shinies

I used to like PokeRadar chaining for shinies but ever since I've had a few nasty experiences with failing rare shinies I have hated the whole concept of shiny hunting. I prefer PKHeXing them on the rare insance I want one.

I use a healthy mix of all methods. Obviously most proud of my full odds mons but I'm definitely not above using the Pokeradar for shitmons, especially since my goal is a living shinydex.

I tend to see my hunts through, for better or worse

If I wanted to hunt the Tyrogue you get in HGSS can I beat the guy with a full party then come back to be able to quickly check and SR? Or is the Tyrogue set when you beat him no matter what?

I think the only gift pokemon that can't really be shiny in HGSS is the Shuckle. So yeah, just do what you said, beat him with a party of six so you don't automaticaly get the Tyrogue, free one or all spots in the party and save in front of the NPC to SR.
