I just picked up a copy of violet, and keep running into this nonstop. Trying to get the tier five raids done so I can do the 6/7 tier ones, and I keep running into retards bringing pokemon that are weak to everything involved.
Its getting really annoying.

So then what's the recommendation? I had tried a few times this morning but had a lot of freezes. I also feel like I'm using Drain Punch more than should, but also feel like I need to spam it with Tera until should gone then flip back to Rage Fist

But the 6 stars require a lot more prep work and teamwork
But other than a fun challenge, you get rare materials for making sandwiches people use to shiny hunt. Raids are the only way to get ability patches off the top of my head. Also, tera shards for changing the type

Not really, you can solo them with one of like 8 Pokemon. Just pick the one that has the best type matchup.

Raids are different from gyms.
Gyms cap out at <60. 5+ raids are 75 or higher.
You also have to account for the Pokémon having coverage from their original types and any abilities or buffs they have.
Inteleon covers Fire- and Rock-types well, while it has the potential to freeze with Blizzards or hit critical hit Sniper boosted Snipe Shots on Steel- and Dark-types. It has Dark Pulse for Gholdengo.
For instance in Inteleon’s case you need something that can change the weather quickly and not be weak to either Ice or Water, which requires more thought than press A to win.

I didn't EV train the ape properly, but spent all attack items I had on him. The lizard had higher speed too.
Had a few deaths but once the odds stopped being a bitch I got a run without blizzard crits and with a Tearful Look after he cleared my buffs (ty defiant), I punched the thing to death

Tried this strat with a Black Belt in place of Covert Cloak. Made it first try but in the last moment, holy shit. Would've failed with previous strat since this time I didn't get a post-clear buff through Tearful Look+Defiant. But I also got a lot of double Blizzard denials since the fucker was paralyzed by a electric-toad-whatsitsname-mon from an NPC.
Can we get some tera raids which aren't dogshit by design and overly reliant on RNG?

Chilling Water is a good option, debuffing Attack of the target consistently and since it's a real attack it'll work even under taunt (though for most cases you'd expect that in advance and plan accordingly)
