Ok /vp/ I have a question

When it comes to Gen1 do you prefer the Red/Blue sprties or the Yellow sprites?

I think some look better in RB (and/or Green) and others look better in Yellow, and that each one of them has certain mons that just look ugly as shit. I can't really pick one because I feel like if I was ever autistic enough to make my ideal Gen 1 hack, it would have a mix of sprites from each of the three so as to have the best looking version of each Pokemon.

RB with Super Game Boy pallette. The Yellow colors are too garish, especially the ugly green/brown color (see the Machop line, Geodude line etc)

I also think it's cool to see what the Pokemon looked like before their designs were completely finalised. They look more like actual JRPG monsters instead of the commercialised children's characters that they are now.

gen 2 sprites are like that to an extent as well
Skarmory has two tails in GS but it was changed in Crystal

Yellow takes it when at its absolute best, but I generally give to RB. Yellow's are trying to recreate the official art with too few colors and often without thought for good perspective. Though we can probably thank Yellow for Gold and Silver's sprites being as good as they ultimately were.
