In a friendly 1v1 battle against Ash's Corphish, which he hasn't used in a long time. It was a close battle regardless. If Ash used Pikachu in the battle, then Misty would have obviously lost. He was just going easy on her and didn't care too much that he lost as Corphish was happy in the end anyway.
