I would love to be a girl so I can have a better sounding voice, a better-looking body, short panties and a skirt, the right body shape to actually wear a bikini, and not have to deal with body hair growing around my asshole.

If you compare the two in the anime, Misty's chest is actually just as extended as May's, but she isn't wearing a form-defining shirt like May so by default May looks bustier

I like picturing the VO sessions where she was voicing half the cast herself and talking to herself most of the time. Same thing in the TPCi dub where Cathcart was talking to himself for James and Meowth, on top of writing his own lines as the script guy.

Very unpopular opinion: Michele Knotz's May (the series one, not this unpitched attempt) sounded a lot more like KAORI's Haruka than Veronica Taylor's May did. Maybe not as memorable, but arguably more faithful to the original Japanese voice.

I remember two things when this happened. First, people like Joe Merrick were leading a whole campaign to try to prevent the 4Kids cast from being recast (seriously, look through Joe's news archive from 2006). Second, the other side, the guys like Dogasu who hated 4Kids initially celebrated 4Kids getting dumped because they thought TPCi would rein in their excesses, faithfully adapt the scripts, keep the Japanese music, and even possibly redub the first 8 seasons to match, even if it meant it being done with new actors. The moment he realized that wasn't going to happen, he pretended like he missed 4Kids.

Agreed. I was going to mention Sarah too. From a total outsider's perspective, if you asked someone whether Veronica or Michele and Sarah sounded more like Rika and KAORI, the TPCi actors would be picked. But again, that's if your only desire is getting sound-a-likes for the Japanese, which to be fair, is how some modern English dubs get cast. Sarah's been Ash long enough, and through the best seasons imo, that I do mostly hear her when I think of Ash now. With May, not so much... I still totally hear Veronica's May.

The 4Kids scripts were trash. Honestly, the only thing that could've saved everything would've been had pic related been allowed to happen with Pokémon. Unfortunately, the YGO one lasted 3 volumes and got canned, and they were going to lose the rights to Pokémon within 2 years anyway, and there's probably zero chance TPC would've greenlit it. But still, just picturing the 4Kids cast getting to redub the OS as an authentic dub, with the Jap music and visuals and official subs, it's a shame. 4Kids was unironically on the verge of completely pulling a 180 on their reputation, but it was too late, and the anime dubbing industry passed them by.

Yeah, no one seems to blame the voice cast. Oddly enough I think the Pokemon voice shift basically had the positive effect of making sure NO redubs ever do that again unless they are massive changes like One Piece

For example, the Shaman king dub from the anime remake from last year maintained almost the entire 4kids cast despite being dubbed by netflix, only really swapping 2 of the main cast

Same happened with that 20th anniversary YGO movie. Everyone who was still alive from the 4Kids cast got their roles back. Hell, TPCi even brought back Giovanni's 4Kids voice actor after a while, and Dan Green voiced Mewtwo in M22 and in Journeys, reprising from Mewtwo Returns. The only reason I think they didn't try to bring back Veronica and Eric is because of not wanting to have yet another dub switch and because those bridges were likely burnt. To my knowledge, there's some real personal shit that made it so Eric Stuart would never be able to come back even if he could've. There was also another female VA I recall who also burnt her bridges but I don't remember her name.
