>>53742516>contradict their game selves.I think it's really hard to legitimately argue they don't outside of someone like Red (and I think they even made him an orphan or something when the game literally starts out at his house with a clearly living mom?). Like giving them different living situations or backgrounds from what's mentioned in the game, etc.
I'm not necessarily saying the exact shit from the game should be duplicated because then it'd be too samey, but for like Moon, just for an easy example, I think it's really hard to say "oh yeah this is totally what they had in mind for the SM protagonist." Even if you wanna point out that in the game the Platinum equivalent (if you play as the dude) has a sister, that's not the case in Special at the time of the arc since they had her as an only child then when a sister exists in the games. So that's like, two game backgrounds contradicted right there.
Is this important? No, literally not at all and I'm not saying it should be. It's just that I really don't see Special as an accurate representation of most of the shit in the games, and that he's clearly just starting with whatever job/gimmick he wants them to have and going backwards from there, instead of trying to fit the gimmick into what little backgrounds are established by the games.
I think the gimmicks honestly drown out the personalities too but again, subjective.
