Other than literally just a flamingo, the SV designs were generally good. Better by far than SwSh which had at most five good looking Pokémon. Mabosstiff, Revavroom, and Greavard are right out of DPP. Lokix and the knights all feel like BW gen style. The starters....mostly terrible. But I think the majority of the new roster is good. Obviously all the early game shitmons are shit, and the motorcycle lizards are stupid, but enough of the new mons are good for me to have enjoyed them.

SV for me has *generally* the worst designs in the entire franchise.
That tumbleweed concept is great, but the designs sucks and they had the audacity to gave it an evolution (which looks identical) when they could've simply make it a convergent for of Tangela and Tangrowth.

The hate against post Gen4 pokemon designs is entirely nostalgia-based, it is absolutely obvious and indisputable.

The first two Gen are full of bad designs but a lot of people will tell you they were perfect with zero bad ones.
People were ok with living eggs, pinecones, magnets, a fucking mime, a humanoid with boxing gloves, a literal seal and a literal crab but they'll shit on the exact same design concepts because they're more recent.

its probably because we're older and no nostalgia. although i didnt play pokemon til age 15 and still liked gen 1-3 the best, but also im the type that likes to start at the beginning of something and as a 15yo i didnt feel like playing past gen 3, too much time

The tumbleweed evo is honestly so bad. Literally just a tumbleweed with the exact same “fake face” gimmick slapped into it that they already did with a different grass/ghost. The shape language of the design is so bad too. You mentioned Tangela and it’s honestly impressive how much better that mon does the whole “messy ball of vines” idea. There’s also Ferrothorn who is a much cooler than it at being a spiky bramble monster.
