Nobody cares about watching Battle Facilities so that's right out. If not shiny hunting, the only other thing is playthrough challenges.

You need to actually be good at the game to do that, or at least be entertaining while doing so. The vast majority of Pokemon streamers are one or the other, if not neither.

Me personally, if a Pokemon I like happens to have a shiny color scheme that I also like, then I might put the effort to get the shiny, otherwise I'm not going to kill myself over it

I don't understand what's the appeal for shinies either. If I wanna have a shiny is because I genuinely like the color. I catch every shiny I found even if I don't like it, but never attempted to look up for one specifically. Like, do people spend a large amount of time looking up for one shiny in particular which has a chance of 1/8000+ or something? Shinies are inherently special for being rare, I get that's the point of their existence, but wouldn't do shiny hunting unless I really want one

Depends on what type of person you mean specifically. Someone like a Twitch streamer or Youtuber that does it for a living, it's just an autism sink and that makes sense considering the monotonous hell they put themselves through willingly.

VGC players usually stick to youtube from what i have seen. I've heard that youtube gives out exclusivity deals to people that are actually good at competitive gaming. They get paid more than twitch would ever pay them and get special sponsor deals and promoted better too.

Shiny hunting carries the suspense that the next encounter will be the shiny you're looking for and SV has absolute shit-for-all of a post-game.

Shiny hunting also isn't like VGC where not going with the meta will land you a disadvantage.

the vgc meta became stale as shit the moment they allowed paradox in, let alone the quartet. people were still figuring out cool new shit like the whole zangoose toxic orb strat that was brewing but died because why do something like that when you can pick one of the paradox mons that just blows 80% of the pokemon out the water because of their busted-ass fucking ability.
i was really enjoying the series 1, even with the absolute abundance of gholdengo/tatsudozo/hydreigon stuff because people had to be creative. now it's just about who brings the set that counters the other person's set and/or who gets lucky with fissures. it's retarded.

i don't understand how people can be happy about finding shinies in S/V. like, i have a box and a half of shinies whereas i only specifically hunted for like 2 of them. there's no way it's full 4096 odds without the shiny charm. that's not even mentioning the people like pm7 who plays games with increased shiny odds and still flip his shit when finding a shiny, like, you literally have a 1/25 chance to find a shiny, why are you acting like it's full odds you autistic, goofy-teethed motherfucker

You are watching them spawn, in real time and in PLA and SV's case, you can see if they are shiny without entering the encounter. This plus lower odds boosts the chances to find a shiny a bunch. As a shiny living dex fag, I welcome all of this even GO's shinies

It is quite interesting seeing people fail to understand the face that encounters are so much faster in this game. Like you, I'm not opposed to it, I too am an SLDtard, but I will say that most of the appeal of shinies came from the original scarcity - completing my Dex is basically just a nostalgic compulsion. I wonder if this will wind up completely killing off the appeal of shinies long-term. Even with Go Community Day odds, there's still scarcity outside that, but SV specifically are something else, even more than PLA

Like Rampardos is my favorite pokemon, and it becomes red instead of the blue, and is just different enough to be appealing. While others get the shit greens
