I don't care if you say the battles are more challenging, it's still Pokémon, the optimal way to play is still overleveling your starter, you still have to do self-imposed challenges to even have difficulty. Not to mention that Pokémon's "difficulty" (or lack thereof) was never the reason people grew attached to the games, and most of the later games do the things the earlier games did but worse. I can't speak for BDSP onward, but Alola and Galar are hallway simulators with Galar lacking dungeons almost entirely.
Haven't played Pokémon in 6 years and I have no intention of going back, it's unrecognizable. The only saving grace is that the Sinnoh-based games are based on solid source material.
