This is the stupidest myth I've ever seen the fanbase spam. Charmander and Squirtle both plow through the game way faster and easier because they don't have to wait until lv13 just to get a single STAB and by the time you get to Brock and Misty both are so overleveled it can easily sweep both of them even with a type resist. On top of that Charmander gets Dig and Slash which are both broken and easily 1HKO basically everything in the game while Venusaur's best move is Razor Leaf which is shittier since so much of the game is flying and poison types.
