What's the point of it having home support soon. There's nothing to do with any pokemon you import. And the dlc will likely be short and shallow. Replaying heartgold for the 10th time is more fun and appealing at this point.

I can't fathom how anyone rates these games above anything but pure trash. Call them fun, a step in the right direction, whatever, but these games are just objectively shit. Not acceptable coming from the highest grossing media franchise in the world in 2023, on the same system as games like Xenoblade 3 and TotK.

lmao. The Switch has a dogshit lineup of original first-party releases + exclusives anyway. SV aren’t perfect (or even close), but they don’t look that bad compared to the competition most Switch owners are playing. They look especially good compared to launch SWSH.

This. Polish the games up, add a few QoL features, and provide sufficient post game challenge + content (facilities, ribbons, marks, etc), and SV can still be salvaged. As much as Game Freak insists that pokemon is a social experience, it seems like most of us only engage with single player content outside of trades (and wouldn’t even bother with those if we didn’t need them). I will say that I am afraid of the eventual monkey paw of receiving good battle facilities without having an option to turn off animations.

The legendaries feel absolutely tacked on with no real thought. No place in the lore or even mentioned in the game. And no dungeon or build up like with Ho oh or Lugia. Just a randomly placed fetch quest.

Funny, they felt more authentic to me, but I did the school bit and learned the backstory as to why they're shoved out in the middle of nowhere (even have a theory as to WHY all 4 were situated EXACTLY where they were on the world map that ties into their backstory).
But I guess if you just hammer "A" as you did as a not even ESL child, because you couldn't read english, or pick the stakes blindly, you'd think that.

I find the fact that no one mentions them in the game at all to feel rushed and tacked on. Reading the books in the library is a decent if lazy touch. But they should have at least been hinted at or mentioned by someone.

You say Xenoblade 3 like it's laughable, have you seen the visuals and scope of that game? Monolith soft do incredible work despite their hardware and fund limitations, something gamefreak utterly fails at despite having 10 times the amount of resources as them. They likely weren't taught by the previous administration, maybe they deemed them too akin to folklore to have any real historical record value. And as they weren't the subject of a multi-selling, widely-read account such as Heath's Violet book, it's not that out of left field for no-one to mention it. No-one mentioning the Paradox the player is clearly riding bout being exactly like the one described in the Scarlet/Violet book's more disconcerting to me.

I’ve put it down but I really enjoyed my time with it, my playthrough was like 75 hours before I beat the game just cause I was Unironically enjoying my time exploring the world, catching/training Pokémon, and finishing the story.
As others have mentioned, the game is technically Dogshit for several reasons, but I would just straight up be lying if I said I didn't enjoy them a whole fucking lot. Probably my favourite post gen 6 games, Unironically

Switch owners are more likely to give SV a pass (in my opinion) because the games they’ve played on Switch have also been underwhelming. I don't think they ever said things need to be "fixed", just that they're taking player feedback for improvements. Most impactful bugs are gone, PvP battle visuals and camera were fixed, and box features were improved.

The April patch barely had anything apart from the raid event bad egg fix, so I think the game is so fucked under the hood that a performance upgrade would take an entire overhaul of the game which isn't happening. Maybe some decent improvements for the DLC but I don't expect it to ever run flawlessly.

They fixed a lot of the glaring bugs rather than performance issues. Tagtree Thicket and Casseroya Lake are straight up either low 10s or high single digits. You can literally try panning the camera and feel the slowdown getting worse. I'm pretty sure it's the atmospheric fog because both areas have it and both areas drop like a brick because of it.

Not your fault, really. The system is embarrassingly bad. I’m not sure if anyone has determined how the game chooses which raids to display to you, but some of them simply aren’t active (so you could continuously fail to join for a long time…until someone opens a raid for that mon + type). Would have been better to provide a search function for the featured mon and offer extra rewards for clearing random matchmaking raids.

Gameplay ALWAYS comes first. Shit, borderlands 1 had fuck all story, but gameplay enough to have me sink almost 800 hours into it. And given the core gameplay is Pokémon's clear strong point (else there wouldn't be autistic manchildren screeching it doesn't care about adults), it's clear Game Freak consider it to be more important. Just so happens Legends and SV had the best stories in the series.
Or did you forget they wrote a story where retards wanted to expand the sea or land. to offer more habitat to pokémon (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). And who can forget "Here, fill my electronic pokédex! Go and explore!" from Gen 1 either?

Given the only people who play vgc are the newbies and traditionally socially inept, that's about average for players that complete the game.
The raiders (on and offline) and shiny hunters don't get counted though. Doesn't mean they aren't playing. Just means thy aren't being tabulated and indexed.
