I prefer it designwise over Hitmonlee so I always pick it in Kanto games anyway. I don't really care about performance since you don't need super optimized mons to play through campaign. Hell I regularly pick Dunsparce for playthroughs whenever I can.

Improve Iron Fist until it isn’t ass; the 20% buff has never been good enough. Give it a better Mach Punch as a signature move; maybe make it a multi-hitter. And just for me, buff Dynamic Punch until there’s ever a reason (outside of No Guard) to use it. Fuck Close Combat btw.

hopefully 3 hitmons get regional forms maybe that can save them but considering hitmonchans luck itll probably be the galar rapidash of the trio

all the punch moves in his learnset, including poison jab and sky uppercut
and an ability whic boosts punch attack power by 50%

and finally give him a signature priority move Footwork, which boosts speed by one stage and evasion by one stage

Jesus almighty, give these dudes some power.
More Sp to Chan and Lee so they can actually use the special fighting moves. Maybe 50 or 60.
As for Top, give him more moves. Being a counter monster WITH ALMOST NO COUNTER MOVES don't help him.

Hitmontop is significantly bulkier afterwards letting it fulfill its role as an Intimidate user far better. It frequently saw usage in VGC even with 50 hp and 70 speed.

Hitmonchan would be bulky and fast letting it function much better in lower tiers. With its great moveset, it'd be a monster in PU/NU.

MY most generous guess would be that they did not want chan wield all three punches TOO well, but then didn't run enough damage calcs to realize a special that low makes them useless. But knowing GF they could have quite simply wanted to keep the numbers symmetrical... The question is really how much of a special stat would be too HIGH for Hitmonchan given how much that HP holds it back.

Hitmonchan could've had 105 Special and it still wouldn't have been all that great. Fighting was unequivocally the worst type in Gen 1.

So since Tyrogue needs higher defense in order to evolve into a Hitmonchan, does that mean that Hitmonchan in PvP is even more pointless to use if evolved from a Tyrogue? Objectively speaking, your optimal Hitmonchan needs to be the gift one that can be obtained in FRLG right?
