Let's discuss and speculate on the DLC ITT.
I'm expecting news maybe mid-late May or early June at the latest. They're probably gonna be marketed at the same time seeing as they're being released one after the other, so I'm hoping the first news drop gives us lots of information.
To be honest, I wasn't very impressed with SV. The game still feels like a rushed out hackjob to me, and I haven't touched it since January/February because there's zero fucking content and I don't care about the shitty raid events.
But I think the DLC looks interesting. SwSh's DLC was fine, not amazing, but I'm hoping they learnt from it and made these the best they could. The only reason I have any shred of hope for the DLC is because it's likely not going to be directed by Ohmori or Masuda, but by a younger, more passionate developer.
To me, it seems TTM will be a story-focused expansion, with more areas to explore and a story to play through, and I'm hoping they follow the open-world gameplay of the base game. And it's always nice to go back to Japan.
Meanwhile, TID looks to be an end-game expansion, what with every starter and legendary returning with it. My guess is that it's basically a giant battle facility with lots of different facilities, which is what fans have been asking for to return since HGSS. I hope there's a bit of a story to go with it as well, so that it's not just a case of "here's your Battle Tower bro, that will be $30 + tax.".
The fact that they're releasing pretty much both at the same time is a little weird, but if it means they're gonna take their time with them I'm all for it. I'd have preferred them to release them over the year like SwSh's DLC, but whatever. Probably a new game announcement in February 2024, and they don't want to overlap them.
Overall, I'm pretty excited for them, can't say no to more Pokémon, and I'm always willing to give SV a new chance, but however good they are, I won't forget the state the base game released in.
