It also makes no sense and brings up a ton of questions. Why do Pokeballs have different catch rates? Why do they minimize when a Pokeball appears when they're only supposed to minimize when exhausted and in danger? Why do Pokemon not shrink to escape nets? Why don't Pokemon shrink so you can't hit them with Pokeballs? Why do poke balls work at all?

But do they also shrink the objects that they possess when they do? Let's say if I were to defeat a Starmobile, does the entire car shrink when Revavroom and the other Pokémon required to run it shrinks?
I know the Starmobile does some things that break the laws of physics and the suspension of disbelief when getting damaged.

Because they didn't give the telly show carte blanche to create for their series and the writer of the telly show ignored their lore to go do her own thing.That's why the writer eventually got kicked out the series - she assumed pokémon was HIS plaything, instead of understanding he was Game Freak's bitch to go do what they told him.

Pokéballs trigger the shrinking behaviour of Pokémon, some do it better than others. Literally explained in Legends Arceus.

Also, the shrinking thing is there since the beginning, explained in that Japanese Pokédex book.

The book had the original Japanese text/full explanations for the original pokedex, without having to be cut down in size to safe memory space.
And in it it says that a kid waking up to be a kadabra was just yhe premise of a popular book. It's a Kafka reference
