Gen 1 plotline is the most realistic. No waking mythical creatures or using them to fuck up the balance of land and sea or create alternate dimensions or DNA splicing them together or building a death ray or alien wormholes etc. Just a crime syndicate exploiting animals to get money and take over the world.

The teams used to be simple. Gen I and II are gangsters and the mafia. Gen III is just crazy environmentalists wanting to do good in their own twisted way.

Then team Galactic happened. They are just evil, and Cyrus is an edgelord. Then team Plasma happened, their motive was actually retarded by their in world logic and the fact that they attempted to do grey morality and philosophy was cringe. Team Flare was just retarded. Team Skull was alright though.

Nah, it proved to be the usual world domination motives in the end, they just used N and the Pokemon PETA front to recruit grunts, win the public over to their side, and weaken trainers who could resist them by persuading them to release their Pokemon.
