This happened because movie animators thought they need to promote Incineroar no thanks to Sakurai "visits" to certain studios for what he wants to add in his game.
(He's been doing this since Smash 64)
It's clear as day that Lycanroc Midnight was supposed to be fighting Charizard but had to scrap and cut corners to shove in Incineroar at the last moment.
