Gen 6 is such an oddity for me. I barely remember anything about it at this point but I do come back to the music now and again with Anistar City being a personal favorite.
Back when it launched I remember having fun with it and shitposting here on /vp/ with everyone. It came with a genuine sense of community that was pushed forward with things like the Friend Safaris and what not. But its mostly been forgotten at this point. Maybe I should replay it, but the linearity while enjoyable at the time would really start to wear me down. And no one to enjoy the game with is another blow.
ORAS on the other hand was pretty neat and I still shiny hunt occasionally with hoards. But beside that I do not have a desire to replay it. I just go back to Gen 3 and enjoy all the things I can do during that gen.
But then again, that's the problem with Pokemon overall isn't it? It needs that active community to stay fun for most and as gen 6/7 are soon to meet the same fate of gen 5 I wonder how the conversation will shift in genuine discussions of those games.
These are social experiences by design from the very beginning. Sometimes that needs to be reminded now and again.
