Theory: The reason why Pokemon has gotten so shit is because the Pokemon Company treated its employees badly and only the bad workers stuck around for this long.

Devs aren't just left to do whatever they want to improve the game, that's not how it fucking works. They just do what their higher ups ask, simple as that.
