Even if it was a 1 to 1 remake like BDSP it would still be better than BDSP simply because the original Gen 3 didn't have the physical-special split or day-night visible in the overworld. Yes, ORAS butchered Granite Cave and Sky Pillar. Yes, ORAS doesn't have gym leader rematches. Yes, ORAS cut Emerald features like Desert Underpass, new Magma base, Trainer Hill, Mirage Tower, Battle Tents, and most importantly the Battle Frontier. But it added so much other stuff that it's still a fun game to play. I've warmed up to it and now it is my second favorite remake after HGSS. I like Gen 7, PLA, and SV. I'm ambivalent towards XY, LGPE, and SwSh. I dislike BDSP. But out of all the 3D games, the ones that I like to replay the most are difficulty hacks of ORAS. I think if Z came out in 2015 and ORAS had more development time and came out in 2016 instead with Emerald content, etc., then it could be a HGSS or BW2 level game.
