Types fucking suck now

I think one of the worst parts of nuPokémon design is how so much of it is meant to be "witty" or a pun. It's there to make reddit-minded people snark about how clever that is, instead of the design element itself having any substance or weight. This is most clear in how nuGF assigns types nowadays. Types were never perfect, but they were a hell of a lot more consistent than now.
Gone are the days when Dragon meant "mythical and/or cool", now it's just the designated meme type the designers use to stroke their own neckbeards and chuckle.

Fairy wasn't a consistent type from the getgo, but it's a complete dumpsterfire now. What even is "Fairy"? It ranges from cute fluffballs like Jigglypuff that are fairy because they're cute and glittery and they had the "Fairy" egg group, and Grimmsnarl which is Fairy because of an immediate retcon where Fairy is now the "non-Dragon myth/folklore" type. Is "Fairy" a tangible thing? Is it the glitter from Dazzling Gleam? What do most of these mons have in common, and why is "dog made of food" now a pure "Fairy"-worthy concept?
So many people are like,
>Just crack open a book if you don't know why x is a Fairy-type!
As if any single one of them read anything about "fae"/"fairies" beyond a wikipedia article.
Fairy is unironically way better, thematically consistent and aesthetically pleasing as just a "cute/girly" type. I wouldn't personally vouch for its inclusion, but at least it isn't some retarded mess of abstract concepts and vague logic spun for the sake of making the people that read the trivia page on Bulbapedia feel smart.

Game Freak designs things for people that live for that "Trivia" section on Bulbapedia.
None of it means anything, it's ALL arbitrary, and basically you're a retard for even caring.
