I usually edit my save file to give myself stuff like shiny charm, all flight points etc. but no items except items that were given out in events

I did take advantage of the duping glitch while it was available for 6 Lucky Eggs in case I want to train multiple Pokemon, and a whole lot of Apriballs, (or at least the good ones such as the Level Ball,) Dream Ball, and Beast Balls, because fuck artificial scarcity.

Never felt the need to. Which is wild, I guarantee I can remember the GTA; VC weapon cheat codes in some fashion, despite it being 15 years and more since I played it. But I've never been bothered trying to run cheats in a kid's game. Not as if it's hard, challenging or otherwise esoteric.

If editing your save file to max IVs / EVs and give smogon movesets to save thousands of hours is considered cheating then yes. Hell you practically NEED to do it to have the basic online experience.
