Mega is the only gimmick that COULD be balanced as long as the mega is different enough to not be more broken, and isn't just given to fan favorite pokemon that makes them more obnoxious.
the problem I keep finding with z moves, dyna/giga/tera is it just makes good pokemon better, there is no mechanism to counter overtly powerful pokemon besides, just do it first lol.
