My favorites are Yuka Morii, Asako Ito, Hizuki Misono, Shinji Kanda, and Tomokazu Komiya. Also a big fan of Shibuzoh, Sui, and sowsow, although I don't go out of my way to buy their cards specifically.
I just completed my vintage Yuka Morii collection (all of her cards through Skyridge), so I'm pretty happy about that. Also have a complete (up to SV) Asako Ito collection.

Outside of the two holos (Blissey and Azumarill), the most expensive cards were Pikachu, Raichu, Swinub, and Piloswine. My personal favorites are Corsola, Girafarig, and Lanturn.

My favorite card artist changes all the time, but besides the obvious ones like Arita, Yuka Morii, Komiya, Ito, etc. I like ones like sowsow, teeziro, Kanda, KATO, zig, ligton, Anesaki Dynamic, and HYOGONOSUKE (GOAT).

I've recently taken a liking to AKIRA EGAWA.

I actually just read my post, I want to change my answer, can I just say all? Pretty much every artist is my favorite artist, they're all so good.

I could be wrong, but for me PE only has Marill and Raichu galleries and a couple of commons, the rest is too modern for me to care about. I don't see it being a huge winner, investment-wise.

Yeah, I remember seeing 1st ed charizard on a shopping channel way back in the day. It was encased in a black plaque (unsure if it was graded, however). I remember asking my parents if I could have it, but at the time it was a $100 card and at the time it was a ludicrous idea to spend that much on cardboard.

The PSA was the Muk and it was an 8. I don't really buy slabs unless they're priced close to raw and generally I only go for 8s and 9s. The 1st eds I got all together in a lot for a really good price so I don't mind that they're low grades.

These are actually the first slabs i've cracked.

We seem to be in similar situations. I would much rather buy a "NM" raw card than a graded card, but when the graded "NM" (that is to say, an 8 or 9) is cheaper than a raw, i'm buying the graded and cracking.

Yeah they all look better than I anticipated. Pretty happy. I don't mind a bit of LP condition for WOTC because my childhood cards are LP-MP and i'm just filling gaps

I finally had some success at the local trade night. Got a bunch of misc. stuff to add to my binder, not all minty fresh, but in overall good shape. Dude's binder was a time machine.

I collect commons for certain pokes and/or artists, so those go in binders. Also for like random small sets, like the Halloween or Celebrations ones, I'll collect the whole thing since it's an easy completion.

Because a card can technically be NM but still get a PSA 6 if it has a tiny dent in it. The highest grade a dented card can get is PSA 6 even if it's otherwise perfect. People have used this as a loophole to exploit CGC as the shit company they are.

I'm not gonna say $300k is nothing, but the amount of money that exchanges hands in the US is pretty insane. I used to train horses and there were multiple $1M+ sales every year for a single animal that might not amount to anything at all.

Someone who has money and thinks that the card is going to store value or go up is not going to feel bad about buying it. Pokémon is unironically a legitimate form of art and store of wealth when you get to the ultra rare shit like those cards. It's beyond what even something like a 1E Charizard could ever be.

I maintain that the true PTCG Holy Grail is a full set of the Pokemon Snap contest cards. There's over 40 known Illustrator Pikachus but there was only ever 15-20 of each of these cards made, and they were given solely to the contest winners to give out as they saw fit.
A complete set (even ungraded) in one place would be legitimately priceless.

To be fair, no one ever knows real print numbers, we just know the numbers of copies released. Extra copies of other cards have shown up before, test prints and others that weren't released but went home with execs and workers.
The real number printed for both is probably around 50. Granted, even if that's true there are way less than 40 or probably even 15 of each left in the world today.

Moonbreon has essentially tripled in price since it released though. It's almost not even worth owning unless you pull it yourself since it's priced itself out of "reasonable" territory and is now just a luxury card, at least in my opinion.

If you didn't pull or buy it when it launched you're fucked and won't own it any time soon without paying a hefty tax. It's the only Japanese card I basically refuse to dish money out for right now, even raw. I own the EN version and that's good enough for now.

You realize BILLIONS of cards were printed? There are millions upon millions of booster boxes being sold and every single mum and their kids are buying sealed product to "make bank!!". You cannot possibly believe ES will reach $1k within the next few years and even if they do after 5 years that's a terrible investment given the product you're holding and the risk that comes with it

You can say this until you're blue in the face. There were mass amounts of every set printed and look where we're at with Team Up, Cosmic, UBB, etc.

ES is out of print and will never be printed again, it's not going to $100, ever. I've only ever even seen like 5 ES boosters that were still sealed IRL.

Print size of those sets was about 1/10 ES. Pokemon literally built entire factories just to print ES lmao.
Not to mention those sets were all released in 2019, before every suburban asshole thought he could be the next Warren buffet of pokemon. People actually opened booster boxes back then.

What's up with some sellers I see on ebay scanning their cards for sale? You can't see the holo and can only see damage when it's very noticeable. I feel like it hides the small damage and creases. Is that why they do it?
