It came out on the Wii u and on the switch it was just a re release so it didnt get much marketing.
Also in a franchise with over 1000 creatures to choose from people will always bitch about the roster

Definitely not the same genre, but Unite uses some Pokkén animations, as well as a similar roster. They had the same producer for a while

The biggest problem with this game is the UI and all the anime trash.
Remove those anime trainers, don't show trainers at all.
Remove that girl that never stops talking.
And make a completely new UI

It came out too soon. If it came out later in the switch’s lifespan where it became ultra popular/normie, it would’ve sold like hotcakes like every other switch game does now. Too bad, we probably would’ve gotten more dlc packs

Wii U games are pretty moddable. Smash 4 has piles of mods.
Making a whole new character for a relatively complex fighting game like Pokken is quite difficult though. It would take months of effort to get them up to the level of quality of the existing cast.
