People need to realize that Pokémon are inherently worthless, like actual zero value, and that it's the context in which they are included and implemented that makes their existence worthwhile. Mew is not special because it is Mew and pink. It is special because it is the singular entity in the original games that is programmed in but inaccessible. It can learn any TM and HM, its stats are all equally high, it's alluded to in lore, related to the other strongest Pokémon in the game, and the true final Pokémon that isn't even required to complete the Pokédex. If they had made it a reward for completing the Pokédex or even included an event akin to Emerald's where the SS Anne does return and takes you to Faraway Island, it would have been complete. But Mew in every other game but Emerald is a dud. It's not worth anything, it doesn't really have context, it's nothing but a distribution or trade. And in games where there isn't a National Pokédex like in Gen VII, it isn't even a box to check off. Like why am I supposed to care about it? It's just a colorful fictional animal at that point, it's as exciting as changing your character's shirt to purple. It's nothing.
But the people who want to trade everything forward to each game also confuse me. Like you complete 90% of the Pokédex by doing the same transfer experience over and over. Catching Gastly in regions like Kanto, Johto, and Sinnoh are at least separate experiences.
