Because competitive Pokemon is an unbalanced farce. It originally wasn't even supposed to be part of the game, but Nintendo forced Game Freak to add it. Competitive Pokemon that only exists to shill CHARIZARD and the FOTM shillmons.

We had a general for competitive play for like 4 months after S/V released. The threads drowned under the weight of endless Nemona/Penny/Cynthia/Ralts line/Eevee line/Dawn/May/Misty/Serena/etc threads and never returned.

You get better discussion on Showdown and Nugget Bridge for competitive. There's also related Discords for it. On /vp/, the best players are usually in Showderp just because they happen to actually engage in pvp battles the most. There used to be a /cpg/ (Competitive Pokemon General) years ago but it died down so much due to lack of discussion it's now relegated to a room on Showdown.
