I'd just do stuff flavored after a typical Ash Catches a Pokemon episode where you have a little series of problems to solve with your reward at the end being a better-than-usual mon, like they're guaranteed perfect IVs or have unique moves or something

Premises would be stuff like help a Ditto who's shit at transforming by showing it a variety of different mons to try turning into, help a Zangoose and Seviper who are friends make peace between their fighting clans, teach a shitter Passimian who sucks at Passimianball so he can win the Monkey Superbowl, etc

Machop has to lift other pokemons, you have to help it keep its balance & not let any pokemon fall to the ground
Some roll, others are square, or have pointy bits that take a lot of space
The game ends when you lose, it's infinite (in theory)
