>>53838465You have a very narrow definition of competitor but alright.
Digimon Cybersleuth isn't really a competitor to Pokemon to begin with. It's more of a competitor to Persona than to any Pokemon game outside of maybe Rangers, and Rangers is effectively a dead series.
Monster Hunter Stories is in a similar position but again it's closer to something like Persona than Pokemon. But even then that's ignoring how MHS plays closer to a traditional party-based RPG than any of its peers in the genre. Hell, PMD plays closer to MHS than MHS does to Pokemon, and PMD isn't a monster catcher.
Temtem has no one caring about it because it manages to pull too much from Pokemon in trying to establish a unique identity while also changing too much about Pokemon to feel good to the audience it wants to capture. No Speed stat, a species-dependent Stamina bar instead of PP, mandatory double battles, and it's an MMO instead of single player. "Tranny" is a useless complaint.
Coromon is the only real direct competitor to Pokemon, which it is by virtue of being "notPokemon". It has the most similar battle system to Pokemon but builds off of it where Temtem seeks to supplant it. Not being able to "capture the magic" is an interesting criticism to have though, and is arguably the core of the issue in creating a direct competitor to Pokemon. How does Pokemon, a notoriously flawed franchise, manage to possess an inimitable magic to it?
tl;dr: Not every monster catcher can be fairly compared to Pokemon, play more games in the genre.
