putting eyes on an inanimate object to make a supernatural creature is just lazy. It's inherently otherworldly because we don't have living inanimate objects in real life. It's an easy way to design a monster. Try making something mundane like a cat or a goldfish otherwordly, that takes some creativity.

If they were all the same (and less detailed) it'd be more believable that they're part of Klefki. Otherwise it looks like just acquires them though according to wiki sites it does steal them but then it's silly that all Klefkis and their keys look the same and it'd make more sense if they had variants like Vivillion/Alcremie even though I hate their variant forms

Objectmons in Gens I-IV naturally fit into the world. They had a reason to exist.

The idea is to make it's body as a chandelier more relevant. I can point to any random object lying around - a ruler lying on my desk - and make it a brand new Pokemon if the only requirement is that it floats and has eyes.

It isn't meant to be any more or less funny than Voltorb, which at the very minimum rolls around like you'd expect a ball to. Applying the modern object-mon design philosophy to Voltorb, it'd just be floating.

A lot of it for me is the change of sprites and overall design direction. Obviously all gens have retarded concepts for pokemon, but I just generally think sprites peaked at gen 2.
Gen 3 was on par, and then there was a drastic shift into gen 4 and 5. Since the transition to gen 6 I basically ignore what any pokemon looks like since they just use the same models over again.
Pokemon has basically become Madden.

A floating ice cream cone did not evolve to be interesting or cool. It is a floating ice cream cone. There is nothing an ice cream cone could possibly do that would make it interesting or cool, and they acknowledge this by making it float.

I sincerely ask you to shut up about "humans have this bias". You are not a psychologist, and even if you were that field is a pseudo-science. You do not understand human nature deeply enough to make these broad, sweeping claims. No one does. We still don't know what every part of our own brain does.
