>>53858761It's rich of you to discuss reading comprehension after being confounded by such a big brain concept as "authorial intent."
I'm going to do you a favor, tell you something you clearly haven't been told in your life. It's going to suck, but in the long run it may help you.
You aren't special, you aren't intelligent, you lack depth as a human being. Your mind is like pond scum floating on the surface. Nothing you do will ever help the world or anyone for that matter. You're going to continue subsisting doing whatever it is that you do day to day, barely making an impact. Then, one day, you're going to die. Not dramatically, not notably, your body is going to just finally decide enough is enough and you will cease to exist. Your cells will senesce and everything that made you you will dissipate. There might be some people who are sad for a little while, but after a few months they will move on with their lives and slowly forget about you. Eventually, the only reminder of your existence will be a tombstone over your remains. Over time however, that too will fade. The microbes and worms in the ground will eat away at your corpse and absorb you back into the natural cycle of the world, your tombstone will be eaten away at by the rain and the sun. In no time at all, there will be no proof you ever existed, not that anyone would care either way.
That's your legacy, nothingness. You will leave nothing behind in this world. Nobody will discuss you after you're gone. In the grand scheme of things, you may well have never existed.
