why the FUCK are they not on NSO with online multiplayer. not putting up the gen 1 games in time for stadium with compatibility from the jump is such a dumb choice. would've sold the expansion pass so hard.
surely they decided to pour all those resources into making that work for Stadium 2 and GSC right?

TPC weren't willing to put in the effort of emulating the transfer pak features. If we did get the game boy games on Switch they might not even be part of NSO and their own paid app so that they can make more money.
The only reason we got gens 1 and 2 on 3DS was because it was the series 20th anniversary and they were on a modified version on virtual console where save states aren't allowed. So overall, it's incredibly unlikely we'll get something like that again.

Nintendo don't own rights to the core games, that's Game Freak's wheelhouse and they'd rather remake a game and resell it than waste time putting an old game out for free.
That's why they remade fucking yellow for Switch before starting Gen 8.
