HM planning was kind of annoying, but it was distinctly part of the single player experience. It feels especially weird playing through BDSP which was clearly designed around wanting you to have a team designed for exploration, with all the move pool restrictions that entails.
Updated typings and move pools is fine and good, but it doesn't really feel like enough to justify a whole new game, and better npc teams doesn't mean much when they're still universally pushovers.
I don't hate bdsp or anything, but it definitely feels obligatory. If there weren't a tradition of remaking the games, I don't think it would have been made
