Just because Pokemon is a gaming franchise does not mean they need an anime considering no other video game has an anime adaption that is running for 26 years. Sonic tried three time and they all got canceled while Mario just had a movie.
If the anime held no significant than TPC would not spend that much money to keep producing it. In fact, the anime originally suppose to be one cour series that ends with the Indigo League yet they still producing it, Obvious it because of the popularity that came from Ash and TRio.
