agile = lower power, virtually guarenteed to move agian
normal = leave it up to speed
strong = higher power to virtually give the opponent 2 hits in row.

the dumbass above clearly hasn’t gotten hit 3 times in a row before the first turn even started. I swear there’s something weird about how speed works in this game

It's FFX esque combat. Speed determines not just who goes first but total turns. Moves with +speed modifiers can make it so you or your opponent gets one or two extra turns.

Honestly the more annoying part about this feature is that in a standard battle the turn order doesn't reset when a pokemon get knocked out, so a switched in Pokemon can come in and revenge kill

Just imagine there's some hidden value that you boost with agile style or moves with ice shard and when the hidden value gets large enough you start to double and even triple. It's easy to set this up with Weavile.

Because a lot of moves influence turn order without having this listed.

Generally, anything with a flinch chance or that fucks with priority has a translatable impact on time to next turn.
Certain moves themselves just also have more or less lag associated with them.

It feels fucking weird because we're used to inputting our commands at the start of the turn, all the commands get executed in speed order, and then repeat. In PLA you don't input any commands until it's your turn to act and then your command is executed immediately. So if the opponent goes first, they get to do stuff before you're asked to do so much as push a button or look at a menu. It feels like the opponent isn't obeying turn order, especially when it's 2 on 1 or 3 on one.

Why the fuck don't you get to send out two pokemon when you're fighting two opponents? Or three? Turn based combat is a gaming extraction, and forcing a 2 on 1 fight feels like the game isn't playing by its own rules, and it breaks the immersion. Was the AI not able to handle picking between two targets?

volo isn't really as difficult as people make it out to be. i played through arceus for the first time ever a couple of days ago and i plowed through the twink on my first attempt, blindly without even being overleveled. in fact, most of his mons had 4 - 5 levels on me. ursaluna skullfucks most of the encounter by itself.

I didn't know he was a thing, and shitstomped him with my meme 3 Gyarados team.
I had other pokemon, but he only got through 2 of my 3 Gyarados, and my Glaceon.

Sure, he's harder than basically anything in a mainline pokemon game besides maybe Challenge Mode Iris, but that's more a statement about the absolute state of pokemon games and the vegetative mental state of the "only ever play pokemon" crowd than Volo being some demigod.
