FRLG exists and are much more digestible. It doesn't have some modern mechanics you zoomers are accustomed to, but it's a solid first time into Gen 1.

LGPE is just go for retards and I cannot stand how the catching mechanics work and how everything is hyper-dumbed down. Much more than your typical entry.

Sure, go ahead and play it. If you're not fussed about the gameplay and just wanna experience Kanto that's a good way to do it. Visually the game is very nice, and it's pretty easy and straightforward so you probably won't get stuck anywhere. Just treat it like an RPG for little kids.

Genuinely never understood the meaningful difference when certain Pokemon have lower spawn rates regardless. Sitting around waiting for the spawn you want doesn't feel meaningfully different compared to a random encounter. And at least the latter is an excuse to get a few levels while you look for the Pokemon you want.
